WW2 Movie - Enemy at the Gates - Sharpsh...

Enemy at the Gates is an awesome WW2 movie about the Russian Red Army, and their involvement in WW2. It tells of how the hardships Russians suffered from both their own country and from the Nazis in the blood battle of Stalingrad.

This scene is one of the many awesome scenes in the movie. Comment me if you'd like me to upload more clips.

Nice upload btw, the guy was lucky the explosions came in a rapid succesion. Otherwise they would have been screwed. More Plz.

I remembered shortly after this movie came out in theaters, so many people playing Day of Defeat changed their names to Vasily Zaytsev. Funny thing is that probably 3/4 of them couldn't aim for shit. :)

All the videos are loading slow for me now too. Maybe the server just needs some time to get used to all the traffic.

Considering how good the book this is based on was (and the research the author did for it) this film was terrible. Its portrayal of the red army was such a load of propaganda, sorry guys but you can hate the reds as much as you want but this film just isnt that accurate (the so-called slaughter of their own guys doesnt even happen in the book, the NKVD certainly shot deserters when they caught them, but what army didnt, the brits executed lots of guys). The focus on snipers was also too narrow, this was a battle of infantry, not snipers.

People like this film because it portrays the soviets as evil with a few "nice guys" who bravely beat the Nazis all by themselves. It fits with thier narrow view of history that the commies were all evil and didnt do anytihng valuable during the war. Crap film, read the book if you arent afraid to see a more balanced portrayal of the battle.

Stlaingrad was ordered to be held because hitler wanted stalins town, they could have retreated but missed there chance once the soviets moved/reinforced the thin stretch of land cutting the germans off. The germans themselves were superior to the soviets in bnearly everyway. The soviets choose to use Artillery and snipers because a head to head battle with just infantry would have been slaughter for the soviets as long as the germans had ammunition. they used arty or moreso Snipers for its demoralising effect it has on the enenmy. Remember you have upto 700,000 germans in a urban fortification " the numbers vary rather alot depending on what you read so ill leave it at that".
was no easy task for the soviets by any means.
Snipers played a huge role in the battle of stlaingrad...
