Those are radiation effects due to the radiation from the meltdown thats why they look radio active.

Yep, watched it all.. figured out some words.. like radiation and Chernobyl... but I know the story.. someone had to clean it up.. and it wasn't pretty.

It was fucked up on so many levels . People who were working to cover the source of contamination with rubble , were using vodka against radiation . They had to go right into the epicentre of contamination , as cameras , computers and robots meant to do it where all failing and breaking down at 15000 roentgens radiation.

Damn, I wish this was in English or had subtitles. This is damn interesting. There's a PC game that just came out and it's all about Chernobyl. If you're interested, the game is called STALKER.
