unfortunatly for me i live in australia , this of course means that i am cut out from any football unless i watch SBS

and when i make the argument that it is Correct to call it football, not soccer, i always ger "well why are they called the Socceroos then"

To which i reply "that name was made in the mid 1970s when AFL was the only dominent sport in Australia and that name is now, in no way correct.

then they say "soccer is a pussy sport" to which i reply "yeah... we dont wear shorts that barley pass as boxers, with tight ass tank tops, shave our body and oil ourselves up and jump on top of one another"

There is always a valid argument to anything that is thrown at us (by us i mean the % of australians who are not brainwashed).

oh and by the way, the largest sport attendance in
victoria (the state where AFL came from) is 50, 000 held by FOOTBALLS melbourne victory

I'm a fan of AFL as well as soccer, but i'm certain the AFL Grand Final gets more than 50,000 every year.

And based on your comment, you sound just as bad as the AFL fans who think soccer is all about riots and diving. Your arguments against AFL as just as stupid as the ones they are making (i.e. short shorts, jumping on one another)

And the reason its called soccer (and should be called soccer) in nations like Australia and the US is because there is a regional football established. (Australian Rules Football and Gridiron, respectively)

Call it soccer or call it football, it doesn't change the fact that its the purest form of football
