Invisible Children (Rough Cut)

Invisible Children: Rough Cut is a documentary recorded in 2003 based on the experiences of three college students (Jason Russell, Bobby Bailey, and Laren Poole) in Northern Uganda. They went to Uganda to see what they could film, and they found thousands of people affected by the insurgency of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). The resulting story focuses on the war's effects on children, particularly child soldiers. They found that thousands of children flee their homes nightly in order to escape being abducted. Children in Uganda are regularly abducted by the LRA to be trained as child soldiers. The children who run from their homes walk miles to find shelter in hospitals or bus parks - virtually anywhere far away from rebel camps. www.invisiblechildren.com

Sorry it's such a large file, give it some time to load. (Also, you wont see a picture until about 20 seconds into the vid).

I broke down and cried during the last interview with Jacob... watching this just makes me really angry with all of those people who complain about their "horrible" lives in such an "awful" country like America... to be homeless and starving in a country like America would be like being a king to the people of Uganda.

Would have been good if they had a clue. I can't stand rich highschool kids. They know nothing of the world. Just watching them kill a snake for fun would show you this.

flatrabbit, So as long as something else have it worse off than yourself your doing just fine? That's a load of bs. Trust me there are alot of people living horrible lives here just as much as over there. 30k+ Suicides 100k+attempts Im just guessing there lives were every bit as crapy.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a crappy life with depression than a life where you're abducted at the age of 5, beaten mercilessly and forced to murder and rape other children. In a 3 month period something like 640 were murdered there, and something like 3000 abducted!

I think the point of the video is that the majority of people are clueless (many of which are rich highschool kids), and they need to understand the evil that goes on the world around.

Ummm i guess im not like you i wouldn't want to live either way. People are taken from there homes and or raped here too.

Canada has the second highest rate of recorded rape.
Swaziland has half the number of murders as SA. Trust me all the world is shit.

They do it to themselfs. We can't fix it, They have too.

lol u gotta love it. people caring so much about other countries problems. look at the countries that we live in. Canada, United states, ect, we all have tons of problems, such as homeless, criminals, mother nature etc, why the fuck should we spend time and money in another country, when ours need the most attention? id understand it if our countries were perfect, we all lived happily with each other and what not and then we could send help to others who need it, i dont understand it when we need need help ourselves but all we do is send help to other countries, PS most of the "Help" being sent there is being confiscated by those rebels and making them stronger, i wouldnt call that helping

worth watching, worth considering, and not worth denigrating. I saw the movie Blood Diamond just last night, and although I thought it was quite good, the comfortable wrapper of a movie from shiny hollywood insulates us from reality.

For all you who say you cant help, or that its not your problem; you're entitled to your opinion. None of you can say in good conscience that you shouldn't help, however.

Yes the filmmakers were some upper-middle class white college kids, with an easily mockable perspective of the world, but people are defined by actions, and these boys took action and proved themselves a fair sight more remarkable than any average WASP burb boy. If only we could all be not only conscious but pro-active.
