Human 2.0 - A BBC Horizons Documentary

It's predicted that by 2029 computer intelligence will equal the power of the human brain. Some believe this will revolutionize humanity - we will be able to download our minds to computers extending our lives indefinitely. Others fear this will lead to oblivion by giving rise to destructive ultra intelligent machines.

I just don't get these people who think they can attain immortality by having their brains scanned and reproduced in a computer.

THAT IS A COPY. It may have your personality and memories BUT IT IS NOT YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS. You (your awareness) still die along with your brain.

Since I assume the copy would have to be done while your still alive, you could see full well it's just a copy of you. You could talk to it. You could make a million copies of the copy. It will only ever be a copy.

YOU still die. Immortality my arse.

^i think they believe the brain is everything, since that is where all things are processed, the heart functions because of the brain, the brain does not need that heart as proven by the machine that was moving its 'arm'. this is all wrong, i don't want to be an android and i don't want a robot or machine telling me what to do. these scientist are insane, they really do need to stop before they do something they will regret. if the computer brain is more powerful than a human brain, also not requiring a body to function, but a machine, then technically it can go all across the world in a few minutes due to it being connected to power supply's and everything in our homes. that one computer might be able to take over the world...maybe i'm a bit scared by the video, but thats what really could happen.

anyone think this is a good idea?
