No kidding that was awesome. While I totally admire his flying skills.. and he put on a terrific show with the model... I kinda hate to see such a gorgeous model put through all that. He did it perfectly, a 4-point roll from a B-29... I would have never thought that... and what a gorgeous landing...

...especially when you consider that you controls reverse when the plan is going away from you vs coming towards you, and then he flies it upside down which reverses everything again!!!

I think what "loosMoose" meant was that it was a shame seeing the plane put through a routine that was very unscale-like.

OMG that flying was awesome. While I agree that it is nice to see the skills that are necessary to fly to scale, it is still fantastic to have someone demonstrate just how capable an aircraft is.

This is a model re-creation of the flight of the Bell X-1 piloted by Charles "Chuck" Yeager when he was the first person to exceed the speed of sound in controlled, level flight.

The Bell X-1, nicknamed 'Glamorous Glennis', was flown into the air by a specially modified B-29.

It should be noted that he was not the first person to break the sound barrier. Other pilots accomplished this in plumits from high altitude, but he was the first to do it in controlled flight patterns.

Bit of info. That wasnt just any model, that was the model that dropped Chuck Yeager and his Bell X-1 jet for the first man to fly at a supersonic speed. Both the b-29 and the BELL were exact replicas, and the fact that the bell even had afterburners (or the effect of) made it that much more cooler. Absolutely incredible landing, incredible skills, beautiful flight.
