That was inspiring! A story that only someone who has experienced it can tell. I think all people with problems like alcoholism should watch this.

I have a lot of respect for his honesty, it's refreshing to see someone acting real on television. I have begun to fight my own alcoholism over the last month and as of today I have managed to stay sober for 9 days which has been quite an effort for me, but I am hopeful that I can keep up the effort that I have made so far to stay sober.

It's nice to see someone talking so candidly about this issue, instead of it being a shameful thing that needs to be hidden away.

^ Congratulations. My father drank for 20 odd years but has been sober for 14 now. He would most certainly recommend AA and a sponsor.

A sponsor is a person who you can call no matter what. Even if you're intoxicated. All they ask from you is a desire to get sober. AA is easily subverted into religion of course, but find the right group of AA's who happily ignore it and they'll help you find strength in something else.

PS. Many alcoholics simply switch to cannabis. If all else fails it's better than drinking for several reasons:

1. No loss of control and certainly not temper.
2. No physical addition.
3. Required dose does not continually increase.
4. In the history of world litterature you cannot find a single death by cannabis ingestion. It simply isn't poisonous enough.
5. Cannabis is an excellent anti-depressant. Which is why we have used it in all recorded history. It is probably why Shakespeare used it. After all, the guy was ahead of his time and as the japs say; the protruding nail is hammered down.

he has points but, Alcoholics Anonymous pray on people with problems to an extent. In so far as they indoctrinate you into religious belief.

You can find people with similar problems that also don't require you to believe in a higher power

That's because AA's 12(or however many steps)program was made by a Christian fellow. I've found in most cases, AA doesn't move into religious belief as much as they did say, 15 years ago.

But it was really good on Ferguson for taking the time to say all of that.

don't switch to cannabis! that can make you paranoid, demotivate you from moving and fat.

take mushrooms instead! you can't take them more than every two weeks and they give you spiritual understanding, the only after effect is a good sleep (unlike mdma) and you won't spend as much on mushrooms than you will on cannabis.(cannabis users get pretty pissed off when they run out and can't source anymore)
