If you're with a friend you can play following game.

Each take a raw egg en write his/her name on it.
Put it in the microwave and turn the microwave on.
The person who's egg explodes first or last, whatever you decide,
gets to clean the microwave...

So was the liquid disrupting the elctrical field generated in the aluminum from the microwaves? Im not sure i believe this one. Heh, my luck its a joke to get me to blow up a beer in my microwave....
Anyways, if anyone has the REAL reason behind why an aluminum can wouldnt spark or do anything else, please let me know.
I just dont get it... perhaps the edges of the can were all too thick to get the electrons to build up and jar loose electrons in the air, therby negating the cascading electrons that makes sparks... (not a damn physics major, just read a bit.... MANY years ago)

Well man some microwav accept alluminium without blowing or making sparkle, I already put a frozen pie with the alluminium plate in mine and everything working like it should (like it should without alluminium) (but if the aluminium hit the inside wall of the microwav, sparkle garanteed, and maybe more). And there's no way a CAN of beer can be colder than it was before the microwave ( I tried it and my beer can stay the same temperature), but maybe his microwave is special :P

Microwaves blowing up when you put metal in them is a myth. They havent made a microwave like that in 30 years. The alluminum reflected the waves of radiation, and the liquid was never disturbed. It didnt get colder, it just didnt get any warmer. Microwaves only effect water, so the alluminum wouldnt get hot either.

I expected nothing crazy to happen.
