Ok... I'm sure some of you have already heard this story to illustrate exponential growth:

There is a pond in which there is one lily pad, which grows by dividing each day; in other words, each day, the number of lily pads doubles. In 30 days, the pond is completely covered with lily pads.
The question is, on what day is the pond HALF FULL?

As for "Shift Happens"...

Some "shift" takes longer than expected.

Remember "The Jetsons"? Weren't we supposed to be in a super high tech world by now, flying around in flying machines, living in a completely automated world?
Yup, it hasn't happened yet. and it may never happen.

The battle between the monotheastic religious nutbars may just bring about their self-prophesizing, self-inflicted idea of Armageddon. These are the same nutbars that have control of the mushroom clouds in their respective countries.

By the way, the answer is... on the 29th day.
