i made mine with a film role case, 2 screws and a straw, instead of using potatoes i made a homemade dart with a pin and a shoelace, and it is capable of peircing through leather and skin, it's deadly in the wrong hands.

I've built full scale Spud guns, and I see a couple improvements that can be made. There needs to be a locking breech to capture all the escaping gas from the hair spray. If the breech is left open, the gas which propells the projectile out of the cannon leaves the breech end of the cannon and losing energy needed to shoot the spud. I guess you could have the end of the chapstick half taped to the breech of the cannon, so that you can flip it down to put the aerosol into the breech, then flip it up and hold it shut to contain the escaping gas. Also, you should ram the potato "slug" down the end of the cannon with something like a thin dowel or Q-tip prior to firing so that the escaping gas has more time to act upon the slug. Another problem is that after multiple firings, the barrel becomes slick with hairspray and potato, so you should swap it out with a Q-Tip. Good vid though, I'm gonna try it out. Good luck to anyone making one.

i just did this using a chapstick container and bits of paper as bullets. works awesomely. the only problem is that half the time the top of the container shoots back at me.

A friend of mine made a full scale one a couple of years ago. It was pretty awesome and pretty damn powerful.

i just started, and i realized something, instead of using hair spray, or some other combustably arasol, you can just use the gas container from the lighter, its actually perfect for it because its purly mechanical, and its a gas which is designed to combust, and if you used a more expensive lighter, it may also be refuled, which is a big plus, well im back to building

correction, an arasol, such as axe, works much better because it proples the gases all the way into the chamber
