^exactly, its cool how it works and stuff, but i think the way of lining them up and carring the 1 over is faster.

Doing this requires no multiplication while the "old fashioned way" means you must know at least be able to multiply single digit numbers.

interesting method. definitely a 5. But I would assume it gets harder when mutliplying numbers with large digits like 96 * 87, it would help to know your basic times tables so you can count the dots of each corner quickly instead of having to count like 60 dots each time. So in that case it would probably be easier to do it the standard way. I wouldn't even want to try to draw two large 3-digit numbers

Notice how it says 2 and 3 digit numbers, i.e. whole numbers, not irrational.

^Thus making it easier to just use the traditional method (assuming you've learn to multiply single digit numbers).

Interesting method nonetheless.

Neat way of multiplication.

You can also use this for decimals and such, you just have to make sure you keep the decimal where it should be.

^^ Fortinbras, i dont know if you were referring to the decimal statement, but decimals are rational. Irrational numbers are like 1/0 or 1/3 or PI

^ 1/3 is not irrational. Irrational numbers are non repeating, infinite decimals. Just saying.

Cool method, also. Something I'm sure not a lot of people have thought about.

^ yah, and you also can't divide numbers by zero. so 1/0 isn't even possible.
