For the people that think it was stupid for the cop to stop him for a missing light...

That obviously was not totally the reason for the stop. There probably is a drug problem in that area. The cop saw a man riding a bike at night in this area without proper safety lights. Normally the cop wouldn't give two shits, BUT he is in an area known for drugs so he stops the man for not having a red blinking taillight as per ordinance so he can also run the guy's info for warrants, etc. In addition he might be able to spot drug paraphernalia on him and get him for that along with the ticket for the traffic violation. Get it now?
