The lion, much like the vampire bat, secretes anesthetic from it's fangs. This allows them to devour their victim with the victim barely noticing.

@angel: That buffalo is absolutely exhausted and probably losing blood from a lot of smaller wounds. This is the last minute of an engagement that could have taken more than an hour.

Once a buffalo is singled out from the herd it is pretty much done for. It's only chance it has is if there aren't many lions and it can stand it's ground and hope that the lions loose interest. Buffaloes aren't that manouverable, once a lion gets up on it's back there is very little the buffalo can do about it.

BTW, it's a pride of lions, not a pack.

tmoore121: What the hell are you talking about ? Most of animals such as this water buffalo, wildebeasts, zebras goes into shock and are dead within minutes. They do feel pain. Lions don't secrete anything........dumbass !

'Pack of lions' sounds better than 'Pride of Lions'. Or else you would say Lion Pride, without the 's' in the back of the Lion(s).

But then again, I'm not a nitpicky kid who gains validation from fixing other people's minor errors, so I dunno.
