I fed mine the same new years day. I have seven very fierce pirahnas. They make a fine "pack" and they took that mouse apart in less then four seconds. You really should starve them for a good two weeks before giving them a mouse or it takes too long.

^^ In nature they're usually hungry enough to throw each other straight out of the river in the frenzy to feed. These pirahnas are not hungry, not even the blood sets them off like it should. Also, without all that wood cluttering up the tank you'd see them kill much more effciently. I've seen 'em roll around their prey to get a good piece ripped out, almost like alligators, when they're really hungry.

A good way to measure hunger is to look at the smallest one and when there's a piece missing, it's feeding time. Now that's nature :)

Also, they grow fast and they don't adjust to the tanks size. A year or two more and you need special glass because they can create such pressure in the water that it'll break a normal tank. It's a certain movement they do when feeding, fighting or just finished feeding - they "explode" in all directions incredibly fast, you really have to see it (and hear it) to believe it.
