Actually, this video talked about the memory of his wife in a much less "romantic" way than the truth (I've seen other videos of him, and studied his condition).

He doesn't know who his wife is at all. She'll ask, "Do you know who I am?" He'll say, "No idea. But I know I love you more than anything."

The only non-musical memory he still retains is his love for his wife.


And also, he became like this after viral encephelitis (spelled wrong, but basically a virus in the brain). By the time he was treated for it, several brain structures governing memory were severely damaged, leading to the man you see in the video.

I think it is a bit of a strech to call this "enlightenment" I don't get how you can forget who your sister is, or that she even exists, yet remeber Buckingham Palace? I think this guy is a hustler! He just found a genius way to be able to spend all his time on SpikeHumor.com and not get any grief for it! Kudos ol' boy...Kudos!

this eerily reminds me of myself at right fucking now !
i too have a very bad short term memory, although not nearly as bad as this guy.
still, sometimes its kinda funny, for example i go to the toilet, and while i'm going i think "ok, there was something i needed to do, i think - or did i already do it and i forgot ? damn ><" but then the 'I HAVE TO PEE' feeling strikes again and i remember.
mostly im able to recall things that left impressions on me. sometimes i remember things from my early childhood that i haven't remembered in YEARS, it's very surprising.

ideologically, it's a nice feeling to live in the moment - but its very annoying to have the feeling that you needed to do things, some responsibility - but you cant fucking remember what it was.
heh, i just had to reread this text to remember what the hell i was writing about XD
also, i'm very bad at managing my money.
also, sometimes i meet some people on the street who say "Hi theandaid !" and i'm like, *smile* "Hi !" back and i have no clue who they are. and the fucked up thing about it is, that i now do remember these people - as 'people whom i don't remember'... just how sad is that.
this also sucks for social relations, for example : i apparently once bought a very nice dress for my girlfriend. once, when she was wearing it, i said : "hey, thats a nice dress, i really like it" and it was very awkward of course, because i was the one who bought it ! so when she got a little pissed, and finally explained that she was pissed at my rubbing it in because i bought it, i was like "i did ? oh.. well... ahem... i seem to have a good taste then :P". but i'm telling you, that was awfully weird and awkward.
yeah, my life is hard... like when the boss tells me to do something and i say "sure" but then i forget... happens all the time, it got me fired even. (no biggie, was a crummy job anyways)

that's really sweet yet tragic... He only needs to remember the two things in life he loves the most. His wife, and his passion for music. It sucks he doesn't remember his kids though. =[ good man.
