The Tenth Dimension

Imagining the fourth dimension is hard but 6 more dimensions after that is mind boggling. It is all theory though mathematically proved.

if there were a god, where do you think he'd "exist" or.. rather have his perception limited to...

correct me if i'm wrong but if it were the 5th dimension... he'd be looking down on not only you, but all the possible you's... and so on...

until you to get to possible universes and the 10th dimension all mater merely looks like iratic strings "vibrating" as all possible beings in all possible time lines do all the possible things in all the possible universe

anyone else feel a little more panicked than usually?

As a computer scientist and a mathematician who has actually worked with and developed models for visualizing geometries beyond the standard 3D, Euclidean one, I can tell you that the "explanation" given by this video is *wrong*. For the first through fourth dimension it is fairly accurate with a few small errors, but after that the "dimensions" that the video describes have little resemblance to the actual dimensions predicted by string theory.

Take note of the disclaimer at the end which even says "this 'way of imagining' is not the accepted explanation for string theory". They may as well have said, "this 'way of imagining' is a made up fraud and has nothing to do with any scientific or mathematical theory of the universe."

The "dimensions" in this video don't meet even the most basic requirements of a dimension. Don't be misled by this philosophical clatter-trap that is dressed up to sound scientific.

^^ Oh yeah, like your popular stringtheory is completely 100% proven.

I gave this video 5 out of 5 dimensions.

If the universe is truly timeless, then that would mean that there was no start point for the universe for dimensions to start from. If the universe did 'start', then what started it.... the universe stoopid! The universe is an infinite area that has been around for an infinite time.

May I also suggest that the 4th dimension is in fact energy, not time?

Three first dimensions are geometrical, the time is not, so I don`t know whatever it should be counted as a dimension. However, existance of the 5th or more dimensions (as described there) is impossible, because they are based on choice, but the real choice simply does not exist. The concept of the genuine choice is totally absurd.

But let`s be religious and pretend there`s a choice. If I understood correctly, the 10th dimension is a dimension where the other 9 "fold", operate. Wouldn`t it then be logical to have 11th, 12th and so on dimensions?

No, 10`s it. You can`t expand it any further because you`ve exhausted all possibilities.

This was interesting, but I don`t really see any applications for it. They`re essentially all (not all, but the last few) intangible reference points created just to formulate really speculative abstract theories.
