Someone should be massaging her belly and back muscles to get the most out of the contractions and deliver the babies in a less painful and smoother fashion.

I've done this and aided with many feline births, it's less stressful and comforting to the mother.

As far as her ingesting the afterbirth, she does this instinctively because it provides her with the high potency protein that she will need to nurse her babies and maintain her own vitality and health.

Nature is beautiful and the innate instinct is amazing.
