I've tried that in both Flight Simulator (2004 and X) and BF 1942, and I'm sad to say that I am so far ranking among the "not here with us anymore."

I have my pilot license, so I know that guy is telling the truth when he said a lot of his friends were killed trying stuff like that. Trying those maneuvers would be like survival of the fittest to the extreme, only the genius pilots survive. You would have to understand that plane like you had been flying instead of walking your whole life. And then you'd have to get it all perfect on the first try or else you'd crater.

On the other hand the mortality rate of WWII pilots was huge too. It's a miracle he's survived that. But that's the reason he's such a good pilot, you push the airplane pretty hard when you're being shot at.
