Kittinger also later served three combat tours during the Vietnam War, flying a total of 483 missions. On a voluntary third tour in 1971-72 commanding the F-4 Phantom 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Kittinger was shot down during a MiG engagement just before the end of his tour and spent 11 months as a prisoner of war in the "Hanoi Hilton" prison.

Brilliant, music seemed fitting. Wasn’t the goal to see if he could achieve the feeling of total weightlessness at an insane altitude?

The surfing at the end seems a little random though.

The reason is that this is the music video for a song called Dayvan Cowboy by a Scottish band called Boards of Canada. They licienced the jump footage from Nasa.

20 miles up the sky turns black and you can see the perfect curvature of the planet, that must've been the most humbling experience of his life. Amazing.

....not the first human to go faster the speed of sound because he didnt even break the sound barrier. while the speed of sound must be slow up there
the breaking of the sound barrier would cause too much stress on the human body.. correct me if im wrong
