A Sydney-based man who ate two garden slugs as a dare during a party narrowly escaped death from a rare form of meningitis, an often fatal swelling around the brain. Its not bad if you fry it with a little oil, some chillies, a twist of lemon, a couple of kaffir lime leaves and ground pepper. with a pinch of salt and sugar to taste. Try it. Best serves with steaming rice.

Hold it, I just checked. The recipe isn't for slugs. Sorry! Its for ulat mulung - a kind of worm, I think its closely related to maggots. You get it by splitting open dead sago tree trunks. Apologies for the mistake. I think slugs can be poisonous.
