It doesn't matter what goes into the plant. Once something touches the little hair-like things at the bottom of the plant, it causes the two sides to squeeze together. You could throw an inanimate object into the plant and it would "eat" it.

This is crazy. I took the ASVAB today (a military type test) and one of the short stories was about the venus fly trap. It's a meat eating plant and once it has its prey, it breaks it down with enzymes and that can take anywhere from 5 to 10 days to do... but with a frog its probably going to take quite a bit longer. Sucks to be the frog.

I saw a video on youtube of a guy trying to feed a black widow to a venus flytrap and it kept escaping even after the plant had shut. Wow... I didn't imagine they'd be able to catch frogs though.

i took the ASVAB and scored in the top 6 percentile, they wanted me to join the Navy Nuclear Sub program. Fuck joining the Army/Marines I heard some screwed up stories from the re-enlisting Marines at MEPS.
I was only 18 at the time and it seemed like a good idea for college. Fortunately I failed the physical (i only have 1 kidney) and now i have a nice little piece of paper that prevents me from ever being drafted :-)
wait what were we talking about? oh yeah fly traps, I used to work at a nursery and we sold those, and the bucket traps. they don't live in normal plant soil they're rooted in mulch and peat moss. just a little FYI if you buy one.
