I used to work for a telemarketing company-- typically if you tell them that you want to be removed from all their lists and never called again, they'll do it, for fear of harassment charges.

very funny.

if someone tries to sell you something on the street or in a mall it is so easy to just walk past them saying 'no thanks'... quick and simple and because i can get past these people so quick i don't regard them as a nuisance. yet there is a convention that doesnt allow it on the phone, it seems more difficult to put an end to this situation in a second.

I remember there was a Sienfiled where he said to the Telemarketer... 'sorry i cant talk right now but if you give me your home number I'll be able to call you later... oh you don't give that out... why not? oh so you don't like to be called at home well now you see how i feel." (i paraphrase)

have to admit that i getting sick of the Indian call centers trying to sell me a mobile phone. i just wish i could prank the people that set them up rather than the people that have to work in them as phone monkeys.

just tell the telemarketer that they called a cell phone and to remove you from the list... they arn't allowed to call cells.
