Hopefully American news will from now on help people make informed decisions about who best would represent them.

Stewart and Colbert are very entertaining, but I'm not dumb enough to allow them to convince me that the Republicans are evil, sadistic liers and the Democrats are good, honest humanitarians. You'd have to be a fool to base your political affiliations on what these guys say. There is no difference between these guys and Fox News.

supermatter,

you're a moron.

i dont think they believe the dems are good honest humanitarians at all. I can guarantee you that when they fuck something up, the daily show ill be there to call them on it.

There's a HUGE difference between them and fox, in case you don't get oxygen to your brain. Fox is regarded by many as an actual news station, instead of a comedy show, although it often looks like a comedy show. Some people are too dumb to tell the difference.

D is right.

And it's not so much about republican or democrat to me anymore... It's about decency, freedom, change, equality and justice (and fucking COMMON SENSE). Anyone who can restore thoose values to politics is a good guy in my book. Unfortunately I think MOST, but not all, of thoose guys we are gonna find on the democratic center or the left.
Nowhere in what I care about do you see order. Order to me is just something you will want to maintain a minimum _needed_ dosage of.

Like psychotic drug prescriptions :P So neo-cons, drop 50mg off your prescrips now...

Oh and honestly. I do believe MOST people are thoose things. So if I could run a computer simulation of what would happen if you just randomly selected 500-1000 people for goverment from the general populace (excluding criminals serving time/ repeat offenders)... I would.
I think you'd end up with a majority of GOOD people. Either way it'd be a fun simulation and I absolutely believe a disturbingly big portion of the people who WANT to rule never ever should be allowed to...

OK you guys are mildly retarded, I know you probably will never believe it, but really, its the truth. Sorry I have to be the one to break it to you.

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FOX NEWS AND STEWART/COLBERT. One tells conservatives what they want to hear in order to get veiwers and make money, the other tells liberals what they want to hear for the same reasons. It shows the liberal "smarter than thou" attitude when they refuse to believe that they can be manipulated by the media just like the conservative watchers of Fox News, only by Stewart/Colbert/Olbermann. You idiots completely missed my point.

1) The first time the experts are shown they smirk like they are senior correspondents for a fake news show

2) The very fact that the possible impact of Stewart/Colbert on the election is even discussed proves that there IS an impact.

I definately think they made an impact. Not on the people who are already Green party members, liberaterians, Democrats, republicans, etc. But its the young people who were undecided and people who would never have voted at all.

Colbert, Stewart, and with help of Spikedhumor, Google Video, and youtube definately helped reach brand new voters and they will create new democrats and new republicans. But much more democrats.

The next few years, even decades we are going to see a DRASTIC change in voters. Its already started.

supermatter,

You obviously don't watch the Daily Show much. They make fun of the Democrats all the time. Kerry and Dean were targets of ridicule all the time.
Its not Stewarts fault that the Republicans have more newsworthy scandals, or that the president couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag.
It is a comedy show, and they satire what they can. The republicans are just eaiser targets.

If the Dems get in in the next election, they won't be safe from The Daily Show.

leighcedar,

There is a fundamental difference in the way they "make fun" of the Democrats and rip the Republicans a new one. One seems to be good natured needling and the other is a hard core bitch smacking designed to make the target curl up into the fetal position and beg for mommy. At whom do you think each is aimed? It will always be this way with Stewart. The amount of attacks may be more balanced with the Democrats in power, but Stewart's most vicious attacks will always be directed at the Repulicans.

"The amount of attacks may be more balanced with the Democrats in power, but Stewart's most vicious attacks will always be directed at the Repulicans."

Again, because the Republican's make it easy for them.

It harder to be "vicious" against a party that's main problem seems to be lack of clear platform. They do it, they call the Dems, weak, vague, etc. But Honestly the Democratic scandals and moments of "foot in mouth disease" are just fewer and more far between.
The Rep's tend to be a huge target. They tout the conservative moral values, yet are always having scandals that go against what they say they stand for.

This is simply your own bias showing supermatter. You see the party you favour getting attacked and you fail to realize that the Daily Show is just working whith what they are given.

Are you kidding me? Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and others seem to have no problem being consistantly vicious with the Democrats. So why doesn't Stewart launch some similar attacks on them. Because guys like Stewart and Limbaugh are two sides of the same entertaining but ridiculously stupid coin. The fact that you don't see Stewarts obvious bias should tip you off to your own Leigh.

BTW I'm not a Republican, and am deeply saddened to see a moron like Bush holding the most important job in the wolrd.

Hmm they seems to be kinda narrow minded on the subject. One is saying YouTube is the reason and one is saying that its Colbert & Stewart. Why not both?
I mean YouTube, spiked and other videocommunities are FLOODED with The Word and all kinds of interviews.
Im pretty sure that if you added the number of viewers on youtube to the TV-shows it would be VERY high and THATS what makes Colbert & Stewart so big.
1.4m tv viewers of around 200m voters? Thats too low for that kind of win we had this year.

What's funny is that people watch the daily show and that's the basis they use to vote. I don't think people take the time to actually find the facts, so they rely on those "reliable sources" like youtube, the daily show, and the colbert report. Don't get me wrong, I think regular news is ridiculous and doesn't answer anything. I don't think people take the time to see what the candidates have voted on in the past.
