I remember making this stuff in school back in the day. The school budget didn't quite allow for us to make it in a pool though.

Oobleck!! (sp?)
i loved making that stuff when i was younger

it would be awesome if there was a way to make it clear like water...
that would make for one badass ninja movie, a whole fight seen on what looks like a pond, with no special effects....

I remember watching this sort of thing on Brainiac, with a cornflour based custard. It was a lot more solid, and was a lot thicker to sink in, making it extremely hard to get out of.

I remember making this stuff in chemistry class. You can roll it into a ball and bounce it. If you hit the substance with a hammer it'll shatter. The shards then slowly liquify. Pretty cool...it's like something out of the Terminator.

It's called a colloid also, we made them with kids at this science camp i taught at. It was even cooler if you added food colouring. And as for it getting into hair and/or clothes, it is water-based and therefore water soluble, it came out in the wash.
