^^^Could be fixed easily, but very likely the gun of the future. I think the old fashioned dropping of the hammer to spark gunpowder will be gone soon because of jamming and unreliability of rounds. Also ricemonkey, it does have recoil but you are able to fire multiple round very quicly so you can get off like 3-5 shots before the guns is affected by recoil and u have to re-aim.

EMP doesnt do shit againist fiber optic cable.. all they have to do is use more robust shielding materials for the cords and cables that EMP uses as antennas to travel into a device which is pretty damn easy to do. Not all electronics are connected to cables or wires. And many of those that are connected may only temporarily be disrupted or not be disrupted at all. Even if EMP hits an aircraft it wouldn't make it fall out of the sky since most of the vital instruments are robust as hell..
The only thing for sure EMP would fry are the PC your using right now and some electrical appliances.

Interesting--I didn't know that. Must be I've watched the Matrix one too many times. Even so, there are two things to consider:

1) How long before someone invents a weapon that *is* capable of disarming even the most "robust" electronics? Especially once these become widely deployed, that will become an important invention--if it doesn't *already* exist.

2) Putting a computer *completely* in charge of targeting is just creepy. Call me a technophobe if you must, but even with all their fallability, I'd prefer that the final decision of where and when to deploy a weapon be left in the hands of a skilled human, capable of subjective rationality.

this means the first bullet in the barrel has just a few inch for stabilization? what does a high rate of fire helps if you cant aim precisely?
