Well I would have liked it had Parker given a reason. It was like he was arguing that the big bang is too logical and straightforward to be true, and it needed some religious nonsense to make it possible.... good argument.

Don't get me wrong, I like these guys and I like South Park. However it is obvious from this interview and the Go God Go episode that they don't understand Atheism.

Hold on a minute. I thought evolution was the most ridiculous theory of all. Don't take that away from biologists.

But in seriousness, I lost a lot of respect for the guys. They always make fun of people who dogmatically say bullshit about stuff they don't understand, yet here they are talking about the big bang theory the same way. The theory has a lot of problems, but I know that because I actually spend some time understanding the research and math. I wonder if they can say the same.

Too bad he didn't go into the reasons he believes in God. I would have loved to hear it, as he appears to be a skeptical intelligent guy.

'It was like he was arguing that the big bang is too logical and straightforward to be true, and it needed some religious nonsense to make it possible' LOL thats awesome, so true.

Creationism is the most ridiculous theory of all, especially now as we have carbon dating dinosaures and other science stuffs

LeighCedar- No it was not like that. Logical, maybe. Straightforward? Absolutely not. I guess I don’t understand atheism either, so tell me: what caused the big bang again?

beculet- watch go god go. You believe religion is man-made. It is not religion's fault the world is messed up, but it is man’s.

sosrandom- Creationism, carbon-dating, and many scientific theories coexist without conflict.

_ironman- Yeah, I don’t respect people that don’t think like me either. The bible is full of metaphors, which is why it is interpreted many different ways. Perhaps what Eve being made from Adam’s rib really means was lost in translation.

Tripodious- ha ha, "Shut up, dum-dum." That is hilariously preschool-esk...

In short, I hate you all. Just kidding. Seriously though, do you all not see the holes in your own beliefs? Are you all so much better than those who think differently than you? Come now, beculet, the world would be a better place if we had love and respect for our fellow man, rather than this “us vs. them”, I’m better than you bullshit.

ok, the big bang theory isn't a theory anymore, it's now fact (just do some research)... I like how Trey says "it's just bad writing, really... and it's really terrible in the second act" lol that sumed it up perfectly... oh, just so you know, I also believe in God so consider that while you're bashing my post...

@joeliolyos
You are using religious doublespeak (see Wikipedia for meaning of word: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_speak). Here are some examples:

"I guess I don’t understand atheism either, so tell me: what caused the big bang again?"
The honest answer everybody atheist will give you is "I don't know". It is the truthful answer every person must give. Religion cannot answer that question anymore than science can at this point in time. Science is infinitely better because it admits ignorance and works to get rid of it. Religion is the antithesis of that, raveling in ignorance and using it to manipulate people (fruit of knowledge is just the first metaphor in the Bible that brings that philosophy home).

"It is not religion's fault the world is messed up, but it is man’s."
I agree. But religion makes it easier for man to screw up the world as he can act irrationally to achieve any goal he wants and call it the will of God. The world would be a much better place if every man would have to give a reason for his actions.

"Creationism, carbon-dating, and many scientific theories coexist without conflict."
Bullshit. Nothing more to say to this. Do a Google search for Creationism and see how many agree with carbon dating.

"The bible is full of metaphors, which is why it is interpreted many different ways."
So who has the right interpretation. There is only one interpretation in science (man evolved from apes) and every time there are multiple conflicting interpretations the scientific method allows for all and any of them to be proven false until one of them remains standing. Religion has wisely shed away from this practice, making all interpretations equally valid (political correctness) so it can evade any scrutiny that any reasonable person would demand of those interpretations. (And if anybody focuses on me using the word 'interpret' when it comes to science when replying to this post, it just shows the total lack of understanding he/she has about science or any human enterprise).

the world would be a better place if we had love and respect for our fellow man, rather than this “us vs. them”
I agree. But history has shown again and again that religion is an active force that stops this from happening. Just look what the Christian republican party has started with the Muslim worlds in the Middle East. Now look at the media and see how many of them actually acknowledge the huge religious conflict. Not many of them, which just shows how religiously brainwashed the U.S. is.

^ Yes, and going by the latest episodes, he is actually quite ignorant on the topic. That's cool though, I love these guys still and they made a brilliant yet obvious call in their latest episodes by showing that even without religion, there will always be war, because there will always be those who disagree to the point where they can't even tolerate one another.
