he was of no danger to anyone but himself.
i agree that this guy was a nut but shouldnt they let him calm down in his cell.
i do hate these druggy guys, dont get me wrong. but he posed no fret in his cell, it didnt need 4 officers bursting in and tasering him.

I agree with caladan that he didn't need this, but I can't help but think that he also didn't need his brain in a meth-monster lockup. The tasering seems to have given him a reboot, and although it strains credulity to really trust anything that someone in his condition utters (I'm sorry & thankyou), there is a compellingly lucid tone to what he says (I know you guys have to do it...).

I think that the most compelling thing about this incident is what the officer says when he asserts that the taser device prevented a dangerously violent confrontation. He is probably right, but I wonder what the real risks are. I know that there have been numerous deaths from taser usage by police, and I doubt that there have been enough studies done (perhaps ethically impossible) on the combinations of drugs, physical condition, and high voltage.

The best they have done on the study of tasers is to the test it on pigs. Scientists dispute the findings saying that pigs hearts have an extra fat layer which helps insulate it from the shock. Also a person's health has a lot to do with whether or not a taser can be lethal. Drugs, the elderly, a history of heart problems etc, lead to an increase risk of fatality.

Police have also been known to abuse the use of tasers. Examples unclude, shocking someone asleep in a public area, or tasering a boy who was being disrespectful to a police officer.

Thats not to say tasers aren't a great tool for the police.

Dont know anything about taser gun, but in this case it worked out allright. I agree that letting him cool down would be the first preferable option, but if he goes on for 3 days...

The point of this was proberly to transport him to some kind of medical facillity.. running around like that for 3 days usaly means somthing is realy wrong.. so good job..
