you gotta respect them because that would be scary as shit. Surely they have some way to get the plane back into control if the pilot was unable to do it, anyone know?

im sure they have to go though tons of simulations before they even attempt that test...

im sure that no matter how new a plane is, its on in a simulation somewhere, cause they almost have to start with a simulation before they build it. these are not the days of the wright brothers where everything theoretical would work on paper...

@JonGuzman

Looks to me like the F-22 Raptor, not the F-35 which only has 1 engine. The plane in this video has 2 afterburners. Be careful next time you correct someone.

This is F/A-22 Raptor. BEcause of the pointy thing you see in the HUD view, which is called a Pitot Static Tube, this shows that they are doing flight test on the aircraft. All modern fighter aircraft have a roll recovery system implemented into the aircrafts computers. This was a test of the roll recovery system, and was quite successsful. Im an avionics technician on F-A-18 fighter aircraft, which have a similar system.

Your right, with aircraft this advanced, where flight controls (flaps, aileron, stabilizers) are controlled 100% by computers and hydraulic servos, the computer can tell you exacty which direction to move your stick in order to gain control. You hear him looking and paying attention to what his flight computer is telling him, if you pay attention, he mentions the Yaw of the aircraft.
