Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mr. Bean all about physical humor since he doesn't talk? You English are going to pretend you don't like physical humor now? BS...

Who said Mr. Bean was the role example for British humor, yes he's well known but it's British slapstick humor.

The 'real' British humor is the verbal british humor. Hard to explain but best to be seen in British comedy shows.

I've always figured the reason some people might not understand the "humour" of the Brits is due to looking for something deep when it's right there on the surface. How ironic something qualifies as is directly proportional to the extent of its "humour". It's also relevant to your demographics, the environmental factors you grow up with are how one identifies "funny". Basically (in many cases, including this scene)British "humour" falls into the constraints of "Hey dummy, you don't understand it do you? hahaha!!!"

"They're all going to laugh at you!! They're all going to laugh at you!!"

In many cases I prefer humor to humour; but it does vary IMO. I thought "Trigger happy" seemed more "humor" based, but the producers and actors are brits... :O

This qualifies as humor imo, pretty funny; especially the end:

MONTY PHYTHON

I am an Aussie and I love British humour. I like all forms of humour with the exception to that weird uncomfortable situation skits and meaningless slapstick. I don't laugh at American comedy show but I do with British ones... there just seems to be more intelligence behind the joke. (but that’s just my opinion) Don't like Mr Bean. I love Rowan Akitson's other stuff like Black Addar and his live stand-up stuff. Brilliant!

Humour = correct spelling
Humor = American spelling

You bunch of british fucks, quit saying "Americans don't understand this humor". I laughed watching this, but was disappointed to find out another ignorant "anti-american" situation from the tool that posted this and numerous other posters. It is unbelievable that you are willing to hurt the reputation of your country by representing it with your bigotted, shortsighted views of other countries, and thats not even mentioning the lack of scope you have of other cultures. You are all sheep! You are no different than those you mock. Fucking morons, someone blow up this piece of shit planet before this human ignorance infects another one.

I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm American and for the most part I like "smart" comedy opposed to slapstick comedy. Movies based on some guy getting his dick slammed in a door or making out with their grandma just seem stupid to me. I like British humor, but most of the time I can't even make out the words coming out of their mouths, no offense meant.

Of course I haven't put any weight on just about any study though. For every study you find I can find one that has results completely oppose to it, guess that's off topic though.

BTW "humour" is technically called the British spelling of the word, so the only way one spelling could be wrong or right is depending on where you live. Would be like speaking English in Mexico and having everyone tell you that's the wrong way to say/spell those words.

Were you not paying attention? They're saying that some of the viewers aren't clever enough to get a lot of the witty jokes and can only understand slapstick jokes of the Benny Hill type. So the guy shows a preview of whats in store later on in the show for those not so clever people. All I can say is "Oh dear" if you didn't understand it.

Comedy shouldn't involve any serious political commentary - it's all in jest and you people trying to make it sound like it's some kind of jab at Americans are sadly mistaken. Having said that, I've always enjoyed British comedy, I grew up watching Red Dwarf and Are you Being Served (I think that was the name) and loved them. Oh ya, Misses Peacock is HOT!

Well I guess I'm just down with the syndrome. When I picture sexual education being taught like that in front of a crowd of teenagers it brings a smirk. The rejects dressed in 80's attire weren't tremendously funny. But a Penis break dancing with a cheering vagina "raising the roof" in support of this "skilled penis" all the while the catchy chorus of "A rap rappy rap and a dang a dang dong, this is how the penis and vagina get along! Go penis, Go penis, go go go..." (all this in front of students who are supposed to be learning about sex)... yeah; I find it amusing. Guess I qualify as lame.

AhumbleKnight

I used the variable "humor" to represent "American Humor"
and "humour" to represent "British humour".

English is a chaotic language that throws in new rules as Delta(t) occurs until eventually there will be a negation of every particular rule (at least on some tier) due to someone's "Clever addition" to the language (Including American English). Math is the truest language, I can only hope the Literary Scholars never slaughter it as well.

Slap stick humor is annoying IMO.

I dont really understand the whole beef with spelling?!

Humour, must be correct since the "english" language was created in "england" that means if its spelled that way in england its correct, im not english im scottish and we too have different ways of spelling word's ,not officialy,but we do.That doesnt take away the fact the the english "invented" (for lack of a better word) the english language, hense what ever way it's spelled in the english oxford dictionary is RIGHT hands down.

I dont understand why people make such a big deal about this, i dont even speak my native language cos the english banned it hundreds of years ago while the where burning our house's and raping our women, and you dont hear me bitchin about it!!..lol

As for humour, funny is funny doesn't matter where its from, althought slapstic comedy is kinda lame and some american humour can be ruined because of the need to explain the joke.(most american stand ups a great but!)

FYI "humour" is the correct spelling as EVERY English speaking country uses proper English. That means the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, NZ, South Africa and indeed, everywhere where English is spoken. For fucks sake, even the Americans are starting to use it now under the name "World English!"

Bill Hicks was a fantastic comedian that did more than stand up and tell jokes he delievered political, social and spiritual messages through his act. Although he hated the USA and it's government. Its funny to listen to his act now and draw similarites between Bush Snr's period in power and Bush jnr's.

Monty Python and Black Books are probably my favourite two British comedy shows.

@TheTamster
Fuck correct english, language is and always has been a local experience. There is no such thing as a correct form of a word, for exammple, I just spelt example wrong(according to english teachers), but you knew what I meant. There for if you can understand what I say, you understand my langauge. Another example is "spanish" someone got offended when I told them I can speak "mexican" not "spanish". The reason is for whatever reason I know enouph dialect that I can speak with somebody from mexico but not spain.

Back on topic though, I like british humor, is it normal to be proud of having large Frontal Lobes.
