I've always figured the reason some people might not understand the "humour" of the Brits is due to looking for something deep when it's right there on the surface. How ironic something qualifies as is directly proportional to the extent of its "humour". It's also relevant to your demographics, the environmental factors you grow up with are how one identifies "funny". Basically (in many cases, including this scene)British "humour" falls into the constraints of "Hey dummy, you don't understand it do you? hahaha!!!"

"They're all going to laugh at you!! They're all going to laugh at you!!"

In many cases I prefer humor to humour; but it does vary IMO. I thought "Trigger happy" seemed more "humor" based, but the producers and actors are brits... :O

This qualifies as humor imo, pretty funny; especially the end:

This can only solidify that the British people STILL have no sense of humor.

"fawlty towers
dads army
red dwarf
alan partridge
black adder

can't be beaten"

I'm Alan Partridge and Red Dwarf are easily my favourite comedies. Red Dwarf I watch more but Alan Partridge has me in hysterics. Brit comedy owns.

Oh yer and that:

MONTY PHYTHON

I am an Aussie and I love British humour. I like all forms of humour with the exception to that weird uncomfortable situation skits and meaningless slapstick. I don't laugh at American comedy show but I do with British ones... there just seems to be more intelligence behind the joke. (but that’s just my opinion) Don't like Mr Bean. I love Rowan Akitson's other stuff like Black Addar and his live stand-up stuff. Brilliant!

Humour = correct spelling
Humor = American spelling

You bunch of british fucks, quit saying "Americans don't understand this humor". I laughed watching this, but was disappointed to find out another ignorant "anti-american" situation from the tool that posted this and numerous other posters. It is unbelievable that you are willing to hurt the reputation of your country by representing it with your bigotted, shortsighted views of other countries, and thats not even mentioning the lack of scope you have of other cultures. You are all sheep! You are no different than those you mock. Fucking morons, someone blow up this piece of shit planet before this human ignorance infects another one.

BigDizzle I never said Americans.

"To all the moaning bastards saying they just "don't understand" British humour, consider this an explanation."

If you interpret that to mean Americans that is YOUR view.

I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm American and for the most part I like "smart" comedy opposed to slapstick comedy. Movies based on some guy getting his dick slammed in a door or making out with their grandma just seem stupid to me. I like British humor, but most of the time I can't even make out the words coming out of their mouths, no offense meant.

Of course I haven't put any weight on just about any study though. For every study you find I can find one that has results completely oppose to it, guess that's off topic though.

BTW "humour" is technically called the British spelling of the word, so the only way one spelling could be wrong or right is depending on where you live. Would be like speaking English in Mexico and having everyone tell you that's the wrong way to say/spell those words.

"Are you all serious ,its 3 seconds of people fast forwarded ,the benny hill show was lame and so was this"

Were you not paying attention? They're saying that some of the viewers aren't clever enough to get a lot of the witty jokes and can only understand slapstick jokes of the Benny Hill type. So the guy shows a preview of whats in store later on in the show for those not so clever people. All I can say is "Oh dear" if you didn't understand it.
