it's an adaptation mechanism, they got a special antifreeze agent in there blood that prevents crystals from forming in the blood and tearing the insides apart, think of it as hibernation

I thought I would clear up something you commentors have been talking about, first off...we use all of our brain. The notion that we use 10% of our brain is a MYTH. Just check snopes. If that were true, we could go into surgery and have the surgeon take out 90% of our brains and be just fine...but neurologists would laugh at you if you told them we could only use 10% of our brain, it is just not true, it is a stupid old myth.

Yeah there is a toad in Africa that can go dormant like that to but it is incased in the dried out mud until it rains than they crawl out of the mud and come to life.
