Ed Mcmahon drunk on the Tonight Show in ...

Not only is Ed noticeably slurring his speech during the introduction, Johnny pulls no punches chastising him throughout the show. Literally some of the funniest moments I've ever seen from Johnny. I always thought it was just an urban legend until I found an old tape!

To be at all drunk at 5 PM on national television... when you've been doing the show for 20 years... It's pretty amazing that he was in bad enough shape before (and during) the show that Johnny noticed and continually screwed with him.

And then the shit he was saying at the end? ROFL. He just wasn't there. But this clip should really be called "Johnny was the master". He was so good.

The man was truly a class act... There was no way to ignore Ed's condition & Carson was able to rib him about it without being judgemental or mean. At the end, it sounded like an adult talking to a five year-old. RIP, Johnny!
