Yeah the growth inhibitor comes from the male tiger and the female lion, so that's why it's huge. It's not as big a mystery as the documentary made out.

Yes, it's sterile. Otherwise a lion and a tiger would technically be the same species.

It must cost a fortune to feed.

Tigons have health problems, not Ligers. Ligers have the best traits from the lion and tigers. They are social (like lions) and love water (like tigers). Tigons, on the other hand, just suck.
