Wow, what a coincidence. I just finished watching the 300 Spartans made in the 60s. The movie is great, seems like this is the new rendition of it.

If you arnt a Greek classical junkie, this is based upon the Battle of Thermopyla. Its when Athens and Sparta united to fight against the invading persians, a million men strong. However, only 300 Spartans were available and the politicans of Sparta had to celebrate a "festival". Therefore, only 300 went to fight.

Those 300 were the Elites. They where the personal bodyguards of the Spartan King.

I hope they show the battle between the elites and the Persian Immortals...

There was supposed to be an adaptation of Steven Pressfield's "Gates of Fire" a few years back with George Clooney as Leonidas, and possibly Robert De Niro as Xerxes. Michael Mann was gonna direct it, but the fucking studio shat themselves when they saw how much it would cost them, and pulled out at the last minute. Instead, WB come out with a B-movie version of Thermoplylae.

That would've been a shit-hot film.
