Shark That Walks on Fins Is Discovered

Scientists combing through undersea fauna off Indonesia's Papua province said Monday they had discovered dozens of new species, including a shark that walks on its fins and a shrimp that looks like a praying mantis.

The team from U.S.-based Conservation International also warned that the area known as Bird's Head Seascape is under danger from fishermen who use dynamite and cyanide to net their catches and called on Indonesia's government to do more to protect it.

You're an idiot. Fox got this piece of news from the Associated Press, just like everyone else. (Read at the bottom: Copyright 2006 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.)

The page the story is on shouldn't make the story any less interesting. If it was a biased article I would understand but it's about fucking walking sharks, how is that biased.

I would very much like to see pictures of these animals. They may get poisoned or blasted out of existance but, if we know about them then at least we will be able to study them to some extent. before they're gone.

"A shark that walks on it's fins? That could be particularly interesting in dealing with how sea creatures evolved to be amphibious and then permanently land-dwelling."

Yep , that just might be it , another proof of Charlie 'son of a monkey' Darwin's works :)

News update: Sorry but it came out that these "seals" weren't seals at all, they were just a few fat american kids on their vacation which got seperated from their parents. While spreading their wobbly bodies on the beach, they were just to lazy to scare away the curious scientists.

I bet a seal fluent in english would be able to properly pronounce the word nuclear, not to mention subliminal, and many other words that certain world leaders seem incapable of accurately pronouncing themselves.

A seal would be unable to speake enlish under water as all sea spieces lack the orgens to do so even if thay did have the orgens thay would need a tough like muscle to pronounce. It is also next to imposible that anouther spieces would speak on the same level of intelegence as us. There for the probability of this happening is something like a hundred thousand billion to one well anyway its very unlikely.8-)

^OH RLY? Thank you for the science-education... (You might want to work on your grammar though.)

Anyway... Sharks that walk on their fins? And they had to go all the way to Papua New-Guinea for that?
Big deal! Last Wednesday I was at the circus and I saw a man walk on his hands! HIS HANDS I'm telling you!
...NOW what do ALL you "Ohhh... I'm the son of a monkey nu-nu-nu-nu" Darwinians got to say for yourselves, huh? huh? Yes... That's right!

monkey, at what point did you completely and unthinkingly not realize I was using a bit of sarcasm, as was anyone else who says that a seal can speak english? But if you want to debate science, you are correct that a seal could not speak under water. Seals are mammals and require air to breath, and talking under water would be far too difficult. Besides, we've all seen Finding Nemo and know for a fact that fish can talk, dumbass. By the way monkey, that's more sarcasm just incase you didn't get it.

Godsim that was the CNN take on this amazing story,i would have bought it if it wasn't for the fact that young chubby yanks cannot speak fluent English so it must have been those goddam prim and proper English seals.

Oh and by the way these seals can talk underwater when they are wearing their diving helmets and aqualungs!!
