Polar Bears Drown, Islands Appear In Arc...

Polar bears are drowning and receding Arctic glaciers have uncovered previously unknown islands in a drastic 2006 summer thaw widely blamed on global warming.

Signs of wrenching changes are apparent around the Arctic region due to unusual warmth -- the summer minimum for ice is usually reached between mid-September and early October before the Arctic freeze extends its grip.

and I doubt anyone is going to stop polluting with their cars and factories. No one is going to stop clear cutting forest or dumping toxic waste into our waters. Nothing will change untill the earth is nothing more than a barren rock, as long as their is money to be made.

i blame old/middle aged men for being greedy and careless/ignorant and old/middle aged women for being stupid and caring too much about what brad pitt and angelina jolie are up to instead of making a difference and becoming educated

This is just STUPID. The full article above says "We saw a couple of polar bears in the sea, one was dead and the other looked near exhaustion"...

Now think about that. Just how fast does the ice where they started have to melt before the bears have no idea of where it went? And then it says "a couple" and tries to make it sound like it's happening everywhere there or is common to see. I can't help but think it's happening because they weren't protected from the governmenrt created brain leaches by not wearing tin foil hats. You KNOW the south pole is where the leeches are and they want the bears to migrate down there! It's yet ANOTHER CONSPIRACY!

But seriously, the bears were hungry because the food is scarce. I'm really not sure why it's scarce and the bears can't find it. It's not like the penguins they eat are becoming extinct. They just got smarter than the bears maybe and moved somewhere else. I don't know but it really is ignorant to claim the bears drowned because of global warming. Then comes the fact that they've discovered new islands because the glaciers melted...huh? I'm telling you, these people living there must be right around the level of slightly intelligent rocks if they didn't notice that the lumpy part of the glacier was really an island before now.

Yo danny boy, lets pretend that you lived on a large string of islands and you had to travel from one island to another island in search of food. Now, one day you start to swim a long way out to an island only to discover its no longer there. This might not be a big deal if your able to swim back, but what if as you start to swim back the other island disappears too? Or you manage to make it back to the other island and have it sink from beneath you - what are you going to do? Don't worry danny I'll tell you - your going to drown. More importantly you going to drown hungry, because you've been too busy trying to get to dry land to worry about food.

As far as the penguins go, they tend to travel a lot better in the ocean than a 500 lb land mammal does so finding land wouldn't be as difficult for them.

What are you, like 12?

Do you really think a whole string of islands are going to melt or sink (Sink??? It's ice dude. Ice floats). Needless to say I'm assuming the islands in your story are ice as that's the smallest leap of faith I have to make (unless of course, you're saying the penguins took them when they left). If your islands did actually melt then just how hot did it get there to make them melt in this trek the bear is making? Obviously in your world it gets pretty damn hot to make the whole thing disappear fast enough for the bear to lose it after spending it's life on this chain.

As for your comment about penguins being able to travel a lot better in the ocean, sure, that's why seals are the main source of food. Because they can't catch them. Right, that makes sense. Obviously the bears just need to go find the seals that have always let themselves be caught. Silly bears.

I don't really see how not owning a car gets the world anywhere... honestly.
The only thing it'll do is shorten your radius of action, save you money etc.
I also don't think it's so much about "Middle-Aged People" as I see them have more common sense then our "Popular Rebel-Minded Youngsters".

On a footnote - I'm 22 myself - as far as I remember Middle-Aged people are half-way across their 40's and 50's. Do they use their car a lot? ...Yes they use it a fair amount of time.
But especially since the world-wide economic recess, they're one of the few that try to slow down things a little bit since they have kids or a 'future' ahead of them (retirement) when they need their money pretty damn bad.

What about "just cruisin' around"?
It's easy to wear a T-Shirt saying you're against - especially if you're against topics that the masses agree on - but it's a different thing having enough balls to take a good look at yourself and be criticizing yourself.

I'm not saying I'm any better - I'm probably worse then the few here claiming different approaches - but you've done the exact same thing they did... "blaming others".
We all gotta clean the sh#t up, let's start of with trying to ignore some of the "mainstream" stuff like Nike, McDonalds, Apple and w/e... No company and no generation is much worse then the other, we're all f#cking it up together.

I did not help bringing about their end! If I went to the Artic to shoot one of those white sons of bitches, I would be preserving one that would have died as unsung shark bait.

Global warming may be happening, but I did very little to cause it, as I drove an economy car for most of my life, and walked or rode a bike for the rest of it. I bet that I have cut more grass in my life than my entire carbon footprint.

Point is, if they are going to be extinct in the wild, then we should shoot them, because hunting will have zero impact on their doomed population. Simple, stupid.
