The "platform" is inside his clothing. It's not just some transparent plastic plate under him.

If thats a platform that is connected with this rattan like stick, the whole thing must be pretty stable. It would distort and collapse if it really was a real rattan stick and transparent plastic. Has to be steel or something...
Under the carpet must be a steel plate, in the stick must be some steel pipe and another steel plate unter his ass, and everything well weld together. And I´m not even sure if this would support the weight and the leverage.
So How does it work?

Ive seen a 'magic' trick that was similar to this, it involved a rigid harness running down one side of the assistant's body which connected to a steel pole screwed into the stage. The assistant stood next to the pole as the magician did somethin distracting and attached the harness. He then lifted her up 90 degrees and the harness locked in place.
