Hahahaha... it is amazing how many religious nutbars there are in amerikan politics.

It doesn't seem possible for Amerika to do the "separation of church and state" thingy. Chritian fundamentalists are no better or worse than any other fundamentalist groups ie/ Jewish or Muslim.

Oh yah... 5/5 for front page attention.

And this quote from one of Spiked's most intelligent members:

"The true goal [intelligent design] is to undo nearly 230 years of freedom and liberty by sweeping the Constitution of the United States under the rug, and obliterating the seperation of Church and State, in order to establish religion as a science, and to establish a theocratic oligarchy in the guise of democracy."

That sums up

I'd be happy if America become a theocracy. That means that science will go down the drain for them and they will experience technological decline and they will no longer be the most powerful country in the world.

@Guaii

Lol. I said that did I? Thanks for the compliment in any case, and drop by the SH forums sometime if you ever want to debate or discuss; I hang out there when I find the time to.

This article gets a 5/5 from me as well for obvious reasons.

The only way for us to ensure that we never allow our democratic government to oppress religious freedoms, is by enforcing the same law that ensures that we never allow a religious government to oppress our democratic freedoms.

Kathleen Harris is the same woman who was instrumental in handing Florida's electoral votes to George Bush in the 2000 elections afterall, and it honestly doesn't surprise me in the least that she is also at heart a Christian fundamentalist just like her president, or as she put it "her ruler".

Good thing she's losing the race for her seat. The last thing we need in our government are more "terrorists" who "hate us for our freedoms", a.k.a. religious extremists, a.k.a Christian Fundamentalists.

ameriCa* is not the only one who goverment is ruled by religious opression, we dont go to war for our religious believes now do we? So quaii, just keep your mouth close.

Darthmaximillion, has a deep point however, and i do agree, that we need to constantly keep church and state seperation despite the fact that the majority of our country is of the christian persuasion. I want to hear the topics! Not hear about how he goes to church every sunday!

I guess in the end it's more of the illumanti's and free masons decision

further more, god help us in 2008, Dick Chaney running for president! Gah! Some one please just stop him!

The true test of the seperation is really in the vote. If you Americans were truly a hard Christian majority, the seperation would fall as practical laws evolve. Bush has already practically changed the Constitution maybe more than all other changes since it's inception. The Patriot Act (gag, barf, hurl...)

If, for example, there were a strong majority of Johova's Witnesses, the govt. would probably stop doing anything, because it's all supposed to be up to GOD to fix it, and we're just supposed to put all our energy into spreading the word.

As it stands, there is certainly a strong erosion of seperation going on, expressed in the legislation of varoius strongly Christian-centric morality issues. Just look at the FCC since the Janet Jackson flash. IMHO the VAST majority of Americans think 'who gives a shit?', but there is enough Christian driven anti-sexual morality to strongly affect the laws. And abortion issues, and gay-rights issues, etc.. This moral mood -> legal drift is PRECISELY a shift in church <> state balance.

And finally I personally think that the "Eye for an eye" attitude so prevalent in much of American fundamentalism carries a very far from insignificant influence into the directions and outcomes of American foreign relations and military policy.

I think that since the government is always of the people, that when the people are mostly of the church, the government therefore will be of the church.

Me, I'm a Murphidologist, member of the first church of Murphidology.

This lady is unbelievable. She should be banished from this country, America was founded by people who wanted religious freedom without the threat of persecution, and here she is trying to set us back 225 years. It's sickening...

S'true though, if you think about it. She's only saying what millions of American Neo-Con Devout Christians, as well as billions of devout Christians, Jews, and Muslims all over the world believe: The funamental tenet that nothing happens without God's Will. I say, That Chick's Got MOXY!
