Zoos are prisons just like houses are. If those animals were self-aware I'm sure they'd opt for the guaranteed food and shelter provided by the zoo. umm the mother had already started moving before the baby had actually made a sound ... so i'd say it wasn't scared, it was just getting ready to help, then realised it was nothing so failed to move any further.

freeze it when you see the mother move, there has been no sound at that point, unless you have really slow reflexes.
