Questionable Carbon Monoxide Meat Additi...

Many meat producers are now adding carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide to meat products to give them a fresh look long past their expiration. Even spoiled meat looks like fresh red meat. This new additive is not even advertised on the packaging.

Oh, no way. They are NOT tainting my food with poisonous carbon monoxide. As if there aren't enough potential carcinogens in food additives already.

PFsh, coming from a chefs' perspective if i have to waste $30 by throwing out a piece of sirloin because it doesnt look right then Carbon Monoxide all the way baby. If you are too noob to check 'packaged on' dates, or to take 5 minutes to at least read up on the approved times for meats then you should be a frickin vegetarian.

isn't it easy, just do not buy packaged meat. I buy meat from a butcher or a store that cuts and packs its own mean.

I really disagree with the adding of all this junk in our food, although I am not one of those "you must only buy bio" people I do think that we should try to cut down on the additives.
