Well lets see, Id like to say a few things. One.. I dont think it will be that bad, think about it, its one group of scientists one opinion. Yea.. Its interesting, hell it may even be true.. But I promise you if the other group of scientist that would have just the same amount of proof disclaiming the entire "Global dimming" theory well then we would have just as much belief toward their opinion. We are humans, we are smart we'll think of something and even if we dont at least most of us will be dead by the time any of that happens ;)

Your attitude seems to be If you don't like the ramifications of science, look around for a different opinion (not analyse the available information and draw sensible conclusions or see what the balance of scientific opinion is).

This scares the shit out of me. They are forecasting the effects so they could be wrong in how severe it is. But they are talking about changes that would kill or displace half of the worlds population in 100 years while at the same time destroying crop production around the world.

Fear is right, we are humans and everyone has at least one thing they fear... and most of us fear how we will die. We, humans, are at the verge of becoming extinct like dinosaurs. You make it sound like this "group" of scientists all got together and decided on what to say...

but as is pointed out in the programme it was actually many different, separate groups of scientists... carrying out different, separate tests and measurements - and all came to the same conclusion independently. And their separate measurements all support each others research.... Coincidence?.... hardly!

If this was a murder case, and the scientists were police officers working alone... 1 found the murder weapon, 1 found the motive and another found the DNA evidence... all pointing to the same suspect.

Grevin does have a point, but it is more important we decide what will and will not happen based on the information we have. Basically, what I'm saying is to not discredit or give full credit to what we just saw because of the fear of propoganda. We all are smart enough to deduce the truth, the propable, and unquestionnable (at least I hope we are). None of us are scientist, but we're not apes to.

When it comes to matters as such, it depends on what attitude we would are pattern to. For me, I like to play it, "better safe than sorry." Think about it, if the evidence provided by these scientist exist, and their predictions are probable, what will it hurt us to take some precautions?

I posted this in one of the other parts of this documentary, but I'll say it again here: the human race is amazingly resiliant. So long as there is a serviceable amount of Oxygen in the air, we'll get by just fine.

Another point to consider is that anything that happens is simply a global correction: mother earth has played this whole game before. It's just bigger and faster now, and who knows? Maybe the recoil back into a relatively cool climate will be much quicker as well? The only things we know about this planet are the things that have already happened. We can say that x is going to happen, but it is scientifically impossible (even arrogant) under current technology to speculate anything -- only to report what we're seeing and try to do what's best.

That said, perhaps scaring the balls off of people is the best way to get them to try to do what's best...

Sure, nature will find an equilibrium - but don't forget that nature, in terms of planetary change, has incredible patience and no compassion for the creatures that live on the planet. 98% of all types of life that have ever existed are extinct, adding humans to that list as the planet takes millions or perhaps a billion years to swing back into a hospitable enviroment, would be entirely normal.

Is that the kind of normality worth not cutting back on our fossil fuel burning for?

You're retarded. Nature isn't balancing itself out. 1) This is all being caused by human pollution. Nature isn't in control here. 2) It's not balanced; global warming is winning anyway. The temperature is still going up. 3) Nature will eventually reach equillibrium. Wanna know how? By heating way the fuck up and killing you, me, and everyone else on the planet. Once humans are extinct and all of our cars and factories are destroyed, the climate will return to something habitable and maybe a few million years later the bacteria that survived (if any) will be able to evolve into multicellular life again.

Or we could just not destroy ourselves.

his is why we all need to take responsibility for the planet ourselves by changing our own actions. Here are a few suggestions:

a) Recycle - in my neighbourhood it's possible to cut down your weekly trash by half using council recycling bins, although many people still don't bother! More recycling means less landfills and less pollution. Lobby your local government if neccessary to get recycling scheme in place.

b) Buy a more economical car.

c) Take the car less, share rides, or use more public transport. Walk or bike (as a last resort for the lazy!)

d) Vote for a green party. Lets face it, most parties are shit, and ultimately do more or less the same thing once in power, so vote for a party that has green policies.

I fear a lot of people who are alarmed at this video will just say "OMG this is terrible" and then just go about their lives, not realising that they are actually the problem. If everyone makes small changes like a few from above, then we can do something about global warming.

I can safely say that i'm not worried. These "scientists" are spewing Ecology 101 information linked together by weak near-unrelated connections. I won't give you a ecology primer but you've got to use some logic and research, global warming is caused by what? greenhouse gasses (read: smoke) trapped in the upper atmosphere creating a "greenhouse" effect of warming. now. what's global dimming? those same things closer to earth, blocking sunlight, essentially protecting us from our own mishap.

Now, take both elements away, what do you have? the first 8,000 years of human life. You can't remove one without the other, and they're both protecting us, they even agreed on that. We cannot warm earth significantly enough for a climate change on an unevolutionable scale, it's junk science.

Now also consider this, we're releasing roughly a quarter of the gasses we were in the Industrial age, and we haven't seen a goddamn change since then, so why is this so urgent now? why NOW are we suddenly causing so much more pollution when we're so much more enviromentally secure?

And this business of the old guy on part 1 with the lumin meter? 50, almost 60 years difference? can half a century old technology be compared to what we use today? i think our new meters are just more accurate.

These scientists are all drawing doomsday conclusions too quick and not thinking it through. And if we do die out, so be it. it's our own fault for not listening to people who can't follow the scientific process.

I can't wait until Al Gore comes along and makes a new doomsday trip of a movie about this.

Hey i could be wrong, i may be way off the mark, maybe they just didn't present the material clearly enough and i missed the point. But from this and independant research we're looking at another doomsday theory to hem and haw about while in reality it's the creator's fault for not carrying the 2.

How many of you people trust your local weather forecast? The Data gather about weather can vary so drastically that it is unreliable. The variables invovled are to many to accurately calculate or even say there is a reliable trend. The tempurature being out by one degree either way is to small of a number to hold onto as any true fact. Yes this very well maybe a problem. It is possible that the world is warming up or cooling down due to certian events.

What I don't understand is why so many people take everything that they hear or see on the news as gospel truth. How much of this is to get people to donate to a cause. Does anyone here understand how the "non-profit" organizations that bring some of these stories forth work. Not all non-profit organizations are out there for the good of this planet. An organization gathered this information. That organization can choose what information it want to use and what information it doesn't want to use.

I will end with this statement
eveyone go out and do some of your own research before you start falling for every "story" that someone set infront of you.

Its so easy to blame the Goverments for everthing but the buck stops with us the people, a simple example of why we are in this shit :

Collie a coal mining town with 10,000 voters.

We needed an upgraded power station in Western Auatralia and they were going to go natural gas as it would be cheaper and cleaner to run, but because the people of Collie who rely on coal mining to make living they used their voting power to ensure the elected Goverment had a policy to buid a coal power station, so you can't just blame the Government its us the people who make this bad shit happen.

1. Financially
2. Logically, imagine a meteorite hits a unmovable Nuclear Buncker in space next to the earth, wouldn't the explotion move planets? Which means the shift in tempreture would be changed??
3. What happens if the nuclear storage starts orbiting around the earth?
4. What happens if a spacecraft hits it ?
5. What happens if a tiny fragment of Waste Space hits this bunker at the speed of light and pierces this waste?

Enlighten me .. or do u prefar to enlighten the world?

It would be wonderful if we could dump all our nuclear waste into space, but once in a while, a rocket explodes on liftoff, and if it contained thousands of tons of nuclear waste, we would all be even more fucked.

We have a 2012 program that was stared in 1998 usa not taking part alot and it has barly done anything it has only slowed down golbal dimming for global waring everyone to sell their car no planes no ships to transport food we are stuck we can't stop it or we will starve if we do stop it we will die in the heat flooding etc etc

So am going to fucking live ma life as good as possibal I thought i was going to live untill 2100 or something but am I fuck now thats what its saying pff I will be lucky to live to 2050 when I will be 60

WE ARE TURNING THIS PLANET IN TOO VENUS ! the only thing stopping the methane from getting out is the wieght of the ocean. so if the ice melts and the water expans ( thing of a pot of water with deadly gas at the bottom turn up the heat a little in your soup pot but not to boil and the water streches kind of, same amount of water over more area equals less pressure on that gas until the gas breaks lose and gets to the surface) think of it along the lines of helium ballon in air it floats we have to turn to tidal and solar energy now vote for eco friendly people into power.

So why not find a way to increase global cooling again, as a temporary 10 year fix, until they get the CO2 effecting Global Warming stabilized. If possible that is, either way we're screwed, so love the people around you and live your lives to the fullest =).

I was wondering why the green house gases (dioxides) were not having as catastrophic an effect on the mean earth temperature as I thought they would. Now I can understand that the pollution particulates were having a cancelling effect on the mean temperature. Frightening. Very, very frightening. Facts such as 20-30% less solar radiation, meaning less evaporation rate, meaning less rain. And a 1 C change in continental temperature in 3 days because of less air traffic! That's all of my nightmares realised in the space of an hour. The program clearly had one important message: The Rate of change is much more higher than previously predicted, so we have less time to act.

It's amazing that there are still some people like ENTROPY who spout complete nonsense about not being worried, and complain about junk science. For his/her information, air-born particulates have severe detrimental effects on human health, co2 emissions have been the highest on this planet for 650,000 years (Source http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4467420.stm), and it is completely insane to state that we are burning 1/4 the amount of fossil fuels than we were 100 years ago during the industrial revolution! - The population of the earth has grown 6 times since the 1800's. Could all the stupid people like ENTROPY kindly throw themselves in the nearest cess pool where they clearly belong with the other shits?

As every sane person on this planet has been urging, there is just one solution to avoid the consequences of man's greed and stupidity: Stop burning fossil fuels. We must change our economy base to renewables as soon as possible. Thousands of solutions already exist, and all we have to do is kill or incacerate those involved in the petrochemical industries who have blocked progress - starting with the present administration in the USA.
