I believe that movie had to do with a sudden stop in the saline cycle in the currents of the ocean, not global dimming.

it's all about money folks! the governments and business men controlling plants, factories, etc. (in my opinion) will never switch to something cleaner and/or safer. Simply because of the huge costs that would bring them.

Of course big companies control everything. If someone proposed something to enchance clean air, such as electro-carbon cars, they'd be arrested. Tesla Motors is bringing the all electric car: http://www.teslamotors.com Watch them being shut down because they conflict with the selling of oil.

^ i do not agree, but what i do agree is this.... use less gasoline and other types of things such as coal, electricity, and things that we use everyday and is very harmful to this planet. Yes.... if i say this, many of you will say that it is impossible, this is because we have been living in a lazy world. We don't need cars that much, we don't need air conditioning system, and there are many more things that we do not need as much that create pollution. no cars, use bycicles. no conditioning, use fans (yes this is an electric stuff, but it uses less energy). Benefits? electric companies do not have to burn so many coals and pollute the air.

It's all ok guys. If you watch these documentries they all end in "Tragic consequences". These tragedies are teh restoring force. Billions of humans will die, the earth will heal itself, and the world will start all over again but with slightly better technology.

China are almost the biggest polluter, but they are also the ones feeling the impact the most and they are one of the countries addressing the problem with some force.
This is one of those wierd dichotamies and quite complicated, but I'll give a very quick explanation as to why.

By being a communist state they have to be self reliant, that means they have to feed, give jobs and medical support etc for their people. All from within China.

When they build a steelworks in the middle of the countryside, it pollutes the regional air and water systems and that screws with agriculture and health.
Just looking at health, it means the government has to start spending money on medical bills for ill health from poor air quality.

Outside of China, people are responsible for their own medical bills, but in China, where the state pays, it suddenly becomes in their interest to ensure the population is fit and healthy. They may pollute, but then they have to pick up the human cost.

Pollution has a financial cost somewhere (in this example, in medical bills). In most countries this cost is pushed onto consumers, but in China, where the government has to pay for everything, they are feeling environmental impact in their wallet.

Blatently obvious facts that any bonehead could put together, the fact that these scientists are thinking so hard about it that they're only JUST NOW realizing the clouds shield and reflect sunlight or that clouds thicken with pollution, doesn't -exactly- make me want to believe them.

Sounds like a Silent Spring style dropout of college who has no money so they need to make a lot of it fast, what better way than to say you attended this prestige university and make doomsday theories?

on to part 3, but so far i'm not impressed. too many other factors that could or are contributing to the 'problem'.

Criticizing China's enviromental policies based on their political structure is about the most childish and pathetic thing ive ever heard. If a chinese person drives to work in a car, and ANYONE else in the world drives their car to work, they are both equally responible for this climatical change. Granted, China may well change its enviromental policies based on the buget for medical expences, but at least they'd do that. If the states found out that the Katrina hurricane was caused by this "global dimming" do you think the Bush administration would change their policies? I doubt it. Bush would tell you that your addicted to oil, juck up the price 15-20 cents, and say FUCK YOU!

Conclution: Democracy is at an end, for if they care for the people they should care for the world aswell and not for money, this can be seen in currently the most powerful Country in the world, USA. It is ending, there is no Democracy, but an Orwellian New Right Order.

I have yet to see part 3 of the documentary, but so far I am enthralled. I can't stand the fact the alternatives to fossil fuels exist such as HHO (in case you haven't heard of this, a man has created a way to use water as a fuel source, and the only byproduct IS WATER and yet we continue to spend trillions on gasoline each year) and we are basically fucking ourselves and our planet. It wouldn't be so terrible if we DID NOT know about it, but we do and chose to ignore it.
