It's definently going to be the future. Everyone wants things smaller and easier to use. This helps people out w/ both of those things. Within the next 30 years or so, you'll have this in "Hi-DEF" so it's not going to be "wavy" like that.

Well look at it this way, if you look at the first ever tv to go on sale it probably had a four inch screen and a tiny fuzzy b/w picture in the middle barely even visable, and now look at tv's so i think this could become in the future.

Ps lcd and plasma screens have already been replaced, (because they'r awfull!!) But it will still be a year or two until the new tech completely replace's it, they'v gotta make they'r money first!!

Please stop comparing this to the first tv/computer etc. with the exxpectation that it'll get better. This actually IS like the first tv. It's a back projection system, way simpler than a cathode ray tube! The only difference is that it's projected onto a steam/mist. and will you need to top it up with water everyday? The only technology here is the flashy projector, which had a much nicer image than the actual projected image. This will be dead on it's ass by the end of the year

I saw a documentary where some people in a finnish university built exactly the same thing, only much bigger for large projectors. And that was YEARS ago. I believe they have the patent for it but apparently it doesn't hold in the US :). The only way to adjust the wavyness is to increase the airflow which will produce annoyingly loud noise.

pshh, they gotta make a projector that scans the room you're watching TV in and it projects the movie throughout your room so it actualy looks like it's 3-D and looks like people are actually walking around in your room. i would love watching Lord of the Rings or a big war movie on that and have a whole frickin army fighting in my room all around me. Then they can make it interactive and make it so that you can get shot up by your own movie or video game. cool invention tho

Gunslinger : LVL 12: VP 2.1: said:

The point of doing this is that it does have the potential to become 3D.

A normal television screen is made up of a grid. 2 axis on a grid is 2D; it has an x and a y.
3 axis on a grid grids make a 3D object. This has an x, y and z.

If the compressed air can be refined into an extra axis on the grid, a 3D picture could be produced.
Although, with one projector it would produce a one sided 3D image. 2 protectors would be needed for the full effect
