If you ever get her waiting your table, just ask for pickles and you'll have a good excuse not to pay her tip.

In fact, you should ask for mustard or anything else that doesn't come with your food in case there are other waitresses like her.

This is no laughing matter. Extreme fear of anything is often buried deep inside the mind of sufferers, usually set by a major traumatic situation & confrontation of any kind with that fear has known to have caused extreme panic attacks and in some cases death causing heart attacks.

What Maury did set this woman back years of therapy and she'll need some serious work to overcome the fear if she ever will. That is no way to deal with these phobias. Phobias are usually built up over time, so it would take time to overcome it.

Shame on you Maury!

But IMO, they should have blinfolder her and just let her walk into a room full of pickles or handed her pickles(not telling her she was near any pickles ofcoarse). She said she hated the shape and color, well you cant see that when you blinfolded right? So it's a step forward I guess.. then she takes the blindfold off and "Wow, i was holding a pickle all this time and nothing bad happened, thank you Maury im cured" Sending her in a fucking pickle factory was kind off cruel though...

Well, fears are inbedded, to FORCE her to confront it is an approach, however i don't feel the way "maury" did it was appropriate for her fear, it seemed like a genuine fear...

I dated a girl in college who had a fear of buttons(like on your cloths). She almost choked to death as a child(about 3 1/2 yrs old) on a dish of buttons in her grandma's sewing room. Some fears are rational and a culpret can be found, but others are buried deep in the subconcious. To the person who said that maybe she was raped as a child and in some way pickels were involved( sight, smell, taste or whatever) is not too far off the mark. There may (or may not be an association). My college sweetheart was learning to deal with the problem before we went our separate ways....but many need real clinical help.............and don't run with scissors!
