Look it's a nice gesture and all, but a symbol of patriotosm? How about the men and women fighting for their country at this very moment? Which might be a wrong war to participate in, but they are risking their life for their country which is a hell of alot more couragious and incredible than some guy winging away a flag from two unarmed losers trying to burn a flag.

Opperator, you are the biggest fucking moron I have ever seen. Here you are again with your nonsense 15 year old, bullshit arguements. Go look up the word "Patriotism". As I'm sure you hardly even know what it means or else you would have spelled it correctly. Yes, you are right about the people fighting in the war, but that had nothing to do with this. If you knew what it meant, and I quote dictionary.com, "Love of and devotion to one's country." You would agree. You don't have to fight in the war to love a country. Point and case.

Wanting to burn a U.S. flag and wanting to stop the burning of a U.S. flag seem pretty lame to me. They're all made in China anyway! 1/5

@David: Well it certainly takes an idiot to start a pointless arguement and to judge someone that you don't know in the slightest. So call me a moron for having my own opinion, i honestly couldn't care less.

I will in hindsight agree with you that it is indeed a patriotic thing to do, but it certainly isn't something important enough to celebrate. My point was rather simple: How is it that someone saving a flag can become a national symbol of patriotism yet people fighting for their country are being subjected to all sorts of humiliation and ridicule?

Heck, the idea of nationalism itself should be done away with. Humanity is at stake.

All of you are idiots. You have no idea what our country symbolizes. We were not number 1 when we gained independence. But our ancestors, our great grandfathers worked very hard to make this country number 1, the best in the world and it still is the best. People even in our own country don't understand that kind of dedication. They won't even respect the ones who made our country. People may voice their opinion about what they think of America, but America will always stand for freedom. No matter what people say. Even if other countries fail to see what America has to offer and calls its flag a corrupt one, I will alwys be proud of my country and what it stands for.

As much as I disagree with the current administration, and I disagree with the war in Iraq, but I will never agree with our own citizens burning our American flag.

As a demonstration of disdain for the actions of the government I have no problem with burning some coloured cloth.
There's not much point in being patriotic if you country isn't doing anything that makes you proud.

I think this act was more symbolic of hope than patriotism.

"They won't even respect the ones who made our country"

thats becuase the people who actually made your country were cut throat pirates who didnt agree with taxation in the colonies and wanting to keep the consolidation of trade amongst themselves so they bought politicians to actively support rebellion. This was displayed in your Boston Tea Party, orchestrated by local smugglers and again, pirates. Theres also the genocidal maniacs who in their spare time were massacaring women and children of the native peoples, but maybe they had a point, rail roads did need to get built didnt they? and gold had to be mined for sure. Stupid fucking indigenous peoples not having any use for the shiny shiny metals in the ground, imagine that, they didnt even know what GREED WAS!!!!, fucking savages.

"but America will always stand for freedom"

LOL, yes the "Patriot" Act certainly supports that crazy mis guided theory.
