A friend of mine in the NAVY told me about someone who was killed by one of those because the auto targeting wasn't turned off as he passed in front of it or he was bout to clean it. Blew him right off the boat.

Sounds kinda fishey to me... like an urban legend more like. "a friend of a friend of a friend sorta heard of somebody's cousin...etc."

Kind of thing you'ld hear about on the front page if it really happened.

Those are pretty awesome... never seen one up close, just on a few movies, etc.

Sounds like cloth ripping. (only a hell of a lot louder!)

I doubt that friend of a friend had so incredible a metabolism or so active neuron impulses to get the gun's seeker to lock on him. (metabolism releases heat and neural impulses emit EM)
