I totally agree. I got my ass kicked one by a capoeira expert before. I took a few classess and I got my bell rung a few time, I couldn't even touch him. I used to have a video of a master, I'll see if I can find it agian.

the original capoeira was designed for slaves in brazil to fight back, they use alot of kicks to subsitute for their hands because they are usaully chained up. they disguised it as a dance to fool their slave owners thinking it's nothing but a dance instead of them training to fight.

I don't buy that thing about the chains. If they used their feet because their hands were chained up, the kicks would look completely different. Imagine spinning or jumping with your hands in chains. And why chain the hands? To keep someone from running away but still being able to work, you chain the ankles, not the wrists.
Every martial art has a set of myths, and I think this is one of them.

This clip deserves a higher rating.

ye the chains thing is romantic but illogical

the thing about capoeira being fighting desiguised as a dance to fool the slave owners is also not really accurate.
