Capoeira - Playground fight from Only Th...

this is for the people who recon Capoeira wouldn't work in a street fight. i'm not sayin its totaly realistic but hopefuly it will give you an idea of how it might be used.

Capoeira would be extremely helpful in a real life situation. The flips and spins are only when there showcasing, when your in a situation like that, Capoeira would have taught you to be quick on your feet and how to handle yourself. Awesome clip to, 5/5.

Haha capoeira is not a practical art. In fact, it's considered a game. It'll teach you to kick and move but not much else.

"It will teach you to kick and move but not much else"

Congrats. I only know the alphabet from A to Z, but none of the rest of it. Damn, I wish I could read. But since I only know that small part, I guess it is forever out of my grasp.

Youre demonstrating a total lack of knowledge of capoeira. Well done.

Suprisingly, you cant base your knowledge of capoeira on videos. This movie and Mark Dacascos did a good job of show casing capoeira, but they barely touched the surface of what capoeira is.

are you serious? Capoiera is one of the most fluent, effective forms of martial arts. You should research it to understand exactly what it is and how it was formed in the first place. It is an extremely difficult art, which requires more athleticism than almost any other form.

Capoeira is ok but you should check out tony jaa and his Muay thai skills if you think this is good

there are some similarities (technically) between capoeira and muaythai.

Both employ a more freeform type of hitting, using any part of the leg as a impact surface rather than routinely drilling the foot as a fixed impact surface. Both make use of knees and elbows with very similar stances (cept capoeira has no stances). Both use stomping kicks rather than relying on snap kicks like many eastern MA. Both use hurling techniques (summersaults, cartwheels, flying knees). Both use kicks to the lower legs. Both use legs like bats to generate power. Both tend to kick from the back leg. Neither enforce rules.

The difference is that capoeira has no stances and doesnt assume a 'perfect ballance' tactic. Capoeiristas have no fear of falling and building the possibility into their moves.

Capoeiristas can still punch people in the fucking face - they don't have to add back-flips to all their kicks. Just coz they do acrobatics doesn't mean they can't still take their opponent to the ground & kick them in the face!
