UN Security Council Meets In Paris

Today, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - China, France, Great Britain, Russia and the United States – together with Germany discuss what the text of a new resolution to be imposed on Iran should be.

Iran has not met the deadline set by the UN Security Council regarding the cessation of their nuclear program.

Tomorrow, the permanent members will likely present the text of a new resolution to the rest of the Security Council.

While the European nations and the US seek strong sanctions, China and Russia do not share the feeling that strong measures are necessary.

US Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns told CNN yesterday that backing from France, Britain and Germany would help a new UN resolution.

Iran announced yesterday that Tehran is ready for any kind of negotiation to achieve their rights.

Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani once more asked for the case to be returned to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

they should NOT negotiate with the iranians. why???

because if they do it will open the door to every fledgling terrorist nation on earth to get whatever they want in aid or whatever and all they will have to do will be to threaten israel and say they are working on a nuclear program of some sorts.

it's ridiculous, they are a hostile nation and should be dealt with accordingly

^yup

I hear the argument "If the U.S. has nukes, then why can't Iran have nukes". These people have clearly let their emotions overtake their logic.
