A cool physics demonstration: when a two dimensional object is vibrated, patterns of waves can be seen. The sand on the plate collects in the nodes, or areas of no motion, of the waves. WARNING - DO NOT PLAY LOUD!

ive seen this before except a guy used a violin bow, not very complex patterns with the bow though, i like this video, shows how complex sound waves are
